Tioman Island

Planning for a weekend getaway near Singapore? Tioman Island is the best spot to unwind, to dive and explore. Its clear water and pristine marine life made Tioman Island to be part of the list of the clearest water to swim in the world in. This island is 4-6 hours away from Singapore and can be reached by plane, bus and ferry.

How to get to Tioman Island?

If you are coming from Singapore, you can choose to go by plane or by bus. You can book a flight to Kuala Lumpur then take bus to Mersing then ferry to Tioman. As for us, we took MRT to Kranji.

Right below the MRT station is the CW1 bus stop going to Larkin ($1.50SGD) it’s 15-30 minutes ride to Larkin then another bus ride from Larkin to Mersing. The bus ticket to Mersing is $35SGD (RT) and that is another 2-3hours bus ride depending on the traffic condition. Upon reaching Mersing Jetty, we took a ferry $35SGD going to Pulau Tioman (Tioman Island). Another 30-45 minutes bus ride till we reached our destination.

We stayed at Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort, a private resort that require us to transfer to another ferry courtesy of the resort to get there. Upon checking in, we were served with refreshments and warm towels.

The weather is not quite cooperative during our trip, it was gloomy and the waves was too strong for snorkeling, good thing there’s an infinity pool and an open bar available that we can enjoy ourselves.

At the end of the day, Mr. Sun show up and boast how magnificent he is

Going back to Singapore is almost the same. Ferry to Mersing Jetty, bus to Larkin and the from Larkin to Newton MRT Station, fares are also on the same rate.

We stayed overnight, how we wish we could stay a little bit longer. Maybe soon. Till we see again, Tioman Island.
